A night of debauchery

Kidding. πŸ™‚ So, I typically veg out at home on Friday nights with my husband watching TruTV‘s Forensic Files or shows about Prison gangs on National Geographic Channel or the History Channel. You get the drift. So yesterday, a coworker of his invited him to check out his dance band (Seven 7) performing at Foxz Tavern. I haven’t danced in a long while so I jumped at the chance. I went there and I had a blast. Right away, I felt the vibe from the performers and they simply infected me. I went from dancing by my hubby’s side to actually dragging him to the dance floor! He was too cute doing his famous side-to-side booty dance (at least that’s what I think it is). πŸ˜€ The lead man was simply awesome (he’s got that rich R & B voice) and the guitarists got me doing my best air guitar impressions. They do covers and I loved nearly all of their covers save for a cover of Usher’s “Yeah” they did. Some songs do not translate well into covers so I’m sure they are constantly tweaking their play list to suit the audience.

If you didn’t know, I’ve had a post (an oldie but a goodie) way back in 2007 which has the song about the Electric Slide (Electric Boogie) attached. Well, you guessed it, they played that song. It was a pity I didn’t know how to do the electric slide. That has to be a thing all Americans seem to know how to do! Like a rite of passage or something. I am going to learn that slide and bust out my moves whenever I hear the song again. The tavern was laid back and I definitely see myself checking it out on Karaoke nights. I’ll have to have M in tow because I’ve got little alcohol tolerance. Two Miller Lite cans did me in last night although that wasn’t enough to let me sleep in. I hate that about myself. I’ll have to be really tired before I can do the sleeping-till-noon thing. I can fall asleep pretty easily, but M needs to prepare himself to fall asleep. He’s a light sleeper whereas I am a heavy sleeper. I guess it’s only fair that I am accursed to waking up early while he can keep sleeping on. *sigh* It’s all love though. I won’t hate on my man.

The countdown continues for Mrs. J. I hope I get the call when she’s experiencing. Hanging out with J & J is always fun. πŸ™‚ See, Mrs. J has a green thumb and she keeps us stocked with fresh-from-the-garden produce. Just the other day, we came away with a haul of string beans (not from her garden, but her neighbor’s whose garden is even bigger) and some humongous squash that would have cost us $5 at Wally world. She’s grown (and growing) herbs and spices & I’ve also benefited from having those too. I hope to have a garden also when M & I are ready to be homeowners. I’m the unofficial PC consultant even though I mostly stumble on the answers to their questions. Shhhhh. Google and smart searching are my best friends when it comes to PC issues. Well, I’ve got some news browsing to do. Have a great Saturday!

UFC 79 amongst others

Matt and I visited a little tavern where we watched the, you guessed it, UFC match up of Chuck Liddell vs. Wandelei Silva, Matt Hughes vs Georges St-Pierre and some others. It wasn’t even a day before outlets like the Washington Post and the Grey Lady a.k.a. The New York Times were reporting on the outcomes. We got a great spot to sit and watch the pay-per-view event and we ate just appetizers. We both ordered veggie chili and got a pitcher of Miller Lite. πŸ™‚ Matt drank the bulk of it but I wasn’t complaining. I was initially nervous and downed the first half of my glass, but once the food came, I focused on that and let my guard down. We weren’t really hungry, but out of guilt, I order a raw veggie basket which served us perfectly because we really needed finger food. The undergrads aren’t back yet so it was a laidback atmosphere. M and I once went to Hooters to ‘eat’ just so we could watch a UFC fight once. It wasn’t so great because we were watching from a distance and the place was filled with representatives from some gym i.e. muscle-bound men & women. So, eating at this new place was definitely awesome and M tipped the waitress over 25% of our tab in the hopes that she’d remember him/us if we came around. I doubt she’d forget because there weren’t that many interracial couples visiting. πŸ™‚

Anyhow, I’ve changed my blog layout (duh) and I like it. However, I wish to heavens it cames with more options other than “change stories” etc. I shouldn’t moan and whine so much about free stuff. lol. Anyhow, I’m beginning to not like Youtube so much. Why? The low quality of videos there is really getting on my damned nerves. I was just trying to watch a music video, but there are so many results that’s it’s hard to find out the “official” release (some music companies have youtube channels that tend to have high quality videos). However, so many idiots have discovered that you can use some cheap tools to screen-capture videos and then, they repost these videos of supremely crappy quality hoping to derive traffic/fame/glory. Because of these idiots, I’m returning back to my roots i.e Yahoo Launch/Music. Granted, I’m sure I’ll get sick to my stomach again from the 30s adverts, but damn, the video quality is worth it. Say buh-bye to graininess and stupid Youtube account holders inserting plugs for their shit into FREE videos. *shakes head* Alright, let me get my hip-hop music fix out of my head before M comes home. lol.

Slightly frustrated

Okay, I would like to integrate my Gallery with WordPress and there’s a plugin for it. However, because I installed Gallery2 and WordPress on different databases, I’m essentially stuck. Grrrh. Well, thank God for Weird Al Yankovic at times like this! πŸ™‚ I’ve been a fan of his numerous parodies. One of my favorites is “I’ll Sue Ya” which is a none too subtle dig at the litigious nature of the American society. [myspace 1672853857]

Ciara and latest news

Holy smokes! Embedded video works on this thing. Awesome. I’m going to start things off with a cheeky video from Ciara called “Like A Boy”.

I absolutely love it and something for “thugs” or outright scoundrels to think about. In other news, My mom stayed behind after my dad left for Nigeria. She just returned on the 15th. She will be thoroughly missed by all who got to know her. In other news, I’m beginning to find that I’m in a catch-22 situation. It’s a resolvable issue but one that could turn out really well, partly mess or downright ugly. πŸ™‚ No alarms yet. I’ll have to wait till the end of a certain month to find out if the end is in sight. Kthxbye. πŸ™‚ That’s LOLCat speak, FYI.
